‘Marina and I love the photos so much. Can’t express how much we love them, thank you soo much!!’
“Where words leave off, music begins.” – Heinrich Heine
…and so it was for Marina and Shadi’s Pelham House wedding. The moment the speeches had ended in laughter, tears, and applause, it was time for the party to begin.
Spoken word and dancing may appear to be two very different forms of self-expression, but when one follows the other in all of the heat, passion and joy that surrounded us all that day, it was merely a seamless shift in dialect. In other words, the speeches which were so very eloquent and emotive perfectly paved the way for a party that might have shaken the south coast. Shots were all the rage, laughter between generations was free-flowing, and the intense Summer heat that had pounded away at us all day was just a distant memory.
Many hours earlier, Marina along with her sisters and her mother prepared for the big day ahead. It was stiflingly hot, so fans were on the go wherever and whenever possible. Shadi and the boys also got ready at Pelham House just a stone’s throw away and it was brilliant to be able to be a fly on the wall for both parties. Once everyone was ready to go, it was off to the St Mary and St Abraam Coptic Orthodox Church in Hove…
After a beautiful ceremony, ululations and congratulations, I hopped in the car with Marina and Shadi to go for a short stroll along Brighton Beach. If anything I’m sure the fresh sea air would have been the biggest draw after a fairly warm (!) ceremony not least for the couple who had an extra layer to contend with.
Reception was held under the sanctuary of the shade in and around Pelham House’s grounds. After a few cool drinks and a little shade to cool down in, you could tell the couple’s friends and family were slowly but surely gathering themselves for a second wind. Dinner, speeches, and a party were still yet to be enjoyed and I was getting the distinct feeling that this was going to be one to remember!
Congratulations Shadi and Marina on a wonderful and memorable day! It sure was a hot one but an absolute privilege to be a part of.
