I knew Jess and Stewart’s wedding was going to be awesome the moment I met up with them at my local pub for a pre-wedding chat and a beer. Sometimes you just know. It’s been a breath of fresh air being able to actually meet couples in person rather than over a video call, so doing so over a coffee or a pint in a nice airy pub seems to just make sense.
Fast forward a few weeks and their day was looking like it was going to even exceed initials expectations. That’s if the forecasters had got it right…and they certainly did. There always seems to be one wedding a year towards the tail end of Summer where we get an unexpected blast of sunshine and this was it. It was a belter, and Lains Barn is one gorgeous location to take it all in.
Both Jess and Stewart got ready for the day in hotels close to Lains Barn, and whilst David Cliff photographed the boys’ preparations, it was my privilege to capture all that was going on with the girls.
After the ceremony, it was time to kick back and the sunshine was the perfect accompaniment to a glass or two or something chilled and bubbly.
A short while later it was time to head back into the beautifully turned around barn for dinner and speeches. Emotional as ever, and always one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph. Golden Hour was definitely on the cards later, so J&S went for a stroll along with David and me to get some intimate shots away from the buzz of the party.
The band kicked off the start of the evening’s celebrations and it didn’t disappoint, knocking out some absolute classics. It was a fantastic end to a perfect day!
Congratulations Jess and Paddy, an awesome day and one thoroughly enjoyed by two lucky photographers.
