I first met Jo and Tom at a wedding fair at G-Live in Guildford, and they had an entirely blank canvas in front of them. No date set, no location. They had very few criteria in mind when planning their wedding celebration, it just had to be about love and having an awesome day. After much hunting around, they found just the right venue in Grittenham Barn near Midhurst in West Sussex. When I met them there for a pre-wedding meeting in March it had been snowing, a week before their actual wedding it was blisteringly hot. It’s fair to say that their wedding landed somewhere in the middle but without rain until the evening, so I’d say we got lucky considering how temperamental the weather has been in the UK since the turn of the year.
The day started for Jo & Tom at The Angel Inn in Midhurst and once everyone was ready it was time to pile into a few cars and head for the ceremony at Grittenham. It was a really intimate and atmospheric spot for swapping vows, and it was topped off perfectly by friends of the couple who performed one of the best and funniest barber shop quartets I’ve ever witnessed. I’ve never seen or heard such a homage to Star Wars, Indiana Jones and everything in between at a wedding before. Or anywhere else for that matter. A beautifully personal touch and it’s one of those details that makes weddings so special.
Once the knot had been tied and the couple pelted with confetti, it was time for a few drinks, cigars, and canapes outside whilst the weather was still behaving itself. Dinner courtesy of Eat The Street followed in the barn which was nicely rounded off by heartfelt speeches.
I briefly took Jo and Tom outside for a few posies just before the heavens started to drip and then it was time to party, have a few more glasses of something, and attack the burger van. What a great day it was and a joy to be a part of.
Congratulations once again to the new Mr and Mrs Dalby!
