What a beautiful day it was for Shivani and Nishan’s Botleys Mansion Wedding! As with any wedding that went ahead this year (since March at least), the happy-couple-to-be must have been put through the ringer several times over when having to make crucial decisions. But September the 17th eventually arrived, and Shivani and Nishan got to spend a gorgeous day with their closest of friends and family around them.
The day started for Shivani in the Bridal Suite where she prepared with her bridesmaids, whilst the boys arrived just a few moments later to do a few last minute things and to get ready themselves. I often get asked what it’s like to shoot an ‘intimate wedding’, and the truth is there’s not a great deal of difference. In fact, the things that really matter – love, friendship, celebration – are all there in abundance, so getting on with the task of capturing those moments and emotions is a privilege as always.
Once everyone was ready to go, it was time to head downstairs to the Atrium for that most important of moments, the ceremony. Now although we were limited to just thirty people, there were dozens watching from a live Zoom call on the laptop just next to the exchange of vows and rings. The ceremony itself was beautiful and once rings were on fingers, we all headed outside into the sunshine for a little confetti and a glass of bubbles.
After a few intimate shots of the couple, dinner was served along with a handful of touching speeches.
So how to you decide whether or not to do an impromptu first dance? Shots of course, which made this photographer particularly happy as I do love a few pictures of everyone getting stuck in (especially when the the choice of spirit is not to everyone’s taste).
Congratulations Shiv and Nish! It was a wonderful day and a triumph over all that has happened in the last few months…thank you for having me there to capture it all.
