Hengrave Hall was one of my very favourite locations that I shot at in 2017, so it was great to be back at such as a special spot tucked away in the Suffolk countryside. With Christmas behind us by just two days, the festive vibes were still there for all to enjoy and I couldn’t think of a better way to gear up for a New Year. Although this wasn’t actually my final wedding of the year, I was in Oxford on the stroke of midnight on the 31st but more of that in my next post…
So whilst the boys got ready in what can only be described as a room fit for purpose (pool table, PS4, chess board etc), the girls prepared just down the corridor in the Bridal Suite. It was a very relaxed start to the day before the wedding party and guests took their seats in the Church of St John Lateran which is the shortest of strolls from the entrance to Hengrave. It’s such a gorgeous church to shoot a wedding in and it was a heartfelt ceremony that was full of joy, laughter and love.
Reception was of course inside for the most part (yes, it was unseasonably mild but it’s still December!) and dinner served shortly afterwards. What followed was the speeches Jim, but not as we know it. Once the speeches came to a conclusion we all thought that was that until….a trickle of a flash mob which shortly became an unstoppable tide broke into a brilliant rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. Yes. Just yes. As a wedding photographer, I just LOVE moments like that.
The party kicked off the rest of the evening with a cracking band leading the way. The most important rule of wedding dancing is to do it like nobody’s watching and bring your air guitar and thrash it to within an inch of its life.
Congratulations Liam and Anna, you guys had a great day and it awesome to be a part of it!
